I’ve seen first hand how amazing Functional Fitness can be.

I was broken down at when I turned 50, with chronic lower back pain, rotator cuff issues, and an elbow that didn’t work right. Luckily I dove head-first into functional fitness - and a steady diet of Kettlebell, Club, and Mace fixed me. Today I feel great! I’m pain-free, able to move with ease, and am both stronger and more flexible than I’ve ever been.

Now I want to do three things with this site:

1.) Give back to those who helped me. I learned about Functional Fitness from others online - equipment, technique, how to build a program, and all sorts of information which was instrumental in helping me fix my body and feel so good today. I want to share their information with as many people as I can.

2.) Pay it forward to those who are coming behind me. Every year there is new batch of people turning 50 and entering that new era of “why doesn’t my body work right?” and “what is that new pain today that wasn’t there yesterday?” I want others to be able to feel as good as I feel.

3.) Be the site that didn’t exist when I started out. Even though there is a ton of great information online, finding exactly what you need when you need it is harder than it should be. I want to help others find all that good stuff.

Important Note: I am somebody who loves Functional Fitness, and I have spent years studying and practicing with Kettlebells, Clubs, and Maces. I am NOT a certified professional Kettlebell trainer.

I just wanted to say that out loud. The information I share on my website and my YouTube channel is information I have gained through personal experience and/or what I have learned from others. I am not trying to imply that my form/technique is perfect, nor am I able to see your form and provide personalized advice.

The best advice I can give it this:

Good Form is very important. Using proper technique is the best way to both avoid injury and get the most benefit out of your Functional Fitness workouts. Work on getting your form right before performing longer workouts or using heavier weights. You can work with a local certified trainer, or you can film your workouts and compare them with instructional videos from online professionals.

Start with light weights. Heavier weights can expose any weakness in your technique and may lead to injury.

Listen to your body. If you feel pain, stop. This may be an opportunity to explore your form/technique further and fix something that isn’t right. If the pain is significant or doesn’t heal with rest, go see a medical professional for further evaluation.

Check with your doctor. Functional Fitness workouts can be taxing on your body, especially if you haven’t exercised in quite some time.

Be smart. Be safe. Check your ego at the door.
